    Mr.Jean-Marin Schuh

Ambassador For France In Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka-France Business Council, as an exchange platform, has proved to be an asset for promoting bilateral trade and investment between our two countries since its inauguration in 2004. The year 2017 was marked by the development of commercial relations between France and Sri Lanka, with a bilateral trade volume of 580M USD, 30% higher than in 2016. France has also increased its economic and financial cooperation with Sri Lanka. Large-scale projects have been launched to make a significant contribution to the country's infrastructure development, particularly in the water and energy sectors, and others are yet to come in the field of agriculture, transport and logistics. The increasing number of French tourists visiting Sri Lanka each year is another sign of the growing French interest in this country. In this respect, I welcome and strongly support the launching of this website that will help strengthening the cooperation between our two countries which is far from having reached its full potential.
